Asa Tribe made his 1st XI debut for Glamorgan during July 2024 in the NCCA Showcase match against Wiltshire at Swindon, with the right-handed batter and off-spin bowler making an unbeaten 93 as he helped to guide the Welsh county to a seven-wicket victory in the 50-over friendly.

Born in Jersey, Asa made his international debut for them during the 2021/22 season. He already has a One-Day International hundred to his name having scored an unbeaten 115 against Papua New Guinea at Windhoek in 2022/23. He also scored an unbeaten 73 against the USA in an IT20 game in Bulawayo in 2022.

Asa made his County Championship debut for Glamorgan against Leicestershire at Sophia Gardens in August 2024, and duly became the first player for the Welsh county to make their first-class debut having already played in ODI’s and IT20s.

Asa also bowls off-spin, with a Sunil Narine-like action, beside transferring the ball from his left-hand to his right behind his back as he approaches his delivery stride. Asa is a student at Cardiff Met. University and has played for the Cardiff UCCE team in 2023 and 2024. He made his debut for Glamorgan 2nd XI in 2023 and posted four hundreds during the course of the season to win the Club’s Second Eleven Player of the Year Award.

2024 saw Asa make his both his List A and first-class debut for Glamorgan and, during the final block of County Championship matches, he made a pair of assured half-centuries opening the batting.

Asa became a mainstay of the 1st XI from the fourth game onwards in 2025, posting a maiden first-class century against Leicestershire at Grace Road, before enjoying a purple patch during August. It began with 71 against Essex at Chelmsford in the Metro Bank Cup, followed by his maiden List A against Worcestershire at New Road, with 122* from 125 balls. He then bettered this with an unbeaten 131 Leicestershire at Cardiff in the closing Metro Bank Cup group game, before travelling to Jersey where he made 175 against Papua New Guinea at St. Martin’s, as well as 53* against Qatar at St. Saviour’s.

After returning from international duty, Asa continued in rich vein, with a maiden double-hundred at Northampton, as the opener scroed 206 against the East Midlands side. On the same day it was also confirmed that the young batter had secured a deal to play for the Paarl Royals in the domestic T20 series in South Africa during January 2026.

At the end of the 2025 season, Asa was deservedly chosen, alongside Ben Kellaway in the England Lions party for the tour to Australia as the cream of rising talent in the county game shadowed the national team in the Ashes series against Australia. He subsequently made his debut for the Lions, alongside Ben, in the match against the Prime Minister’s XI at Canberra, with the pair becoming the first Glamorgan cricketers to play in the famous match since the MCC tour of 1954/55. Asa scored an unbeaten half-century in the contest at Canberra as the Lions won the two-day contest by eight wickets.

In early December, during the England Lions match against the Australian A team at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane, Asa became the first Glamorgan batter since David Hemp in their friendly against Bangladesh at Dhaka in 1994/95, to reach three figures for England’s second string. Whilst Asa’s unbeaten 129 was the only century by a Lions batter on their shadow tour to Australia, it was not enough to prevent the hosts winnings by an innings.

After briefly returning from Australia, Asa duly played some eye-catching innings in South Africa for the Paarl Royals in their T20 competition, with his team reaching the knockout stages of the competition. Shortly after the final, it was confirmed that the young batter had been chosen again in the England Lions squad to play in their 50-over and 20-over series against the Pakistan Shaheens in the UAE during 2025/26. In the first T20 of the short series, Asa played a match winning innings, striking 54 from 48 balls to guide the Lions to a four-wicket victory. His efforts also won Asa the Player of the Match Award.
