Arthur Thomas was a police sergeant in Neath who kept wicket for Neath CC besides playing in two Micor County Championship matches in 1908.
A good friend of Tal Whittington, he was chosen as Glamorgan’s wicket-keeper on their West Country tour in 1908, playing against Devon at Exeter and Cornwall at Truro. Arthur’s work commitments though with the South Wales Constabulary prevented further appearances at county level.
After retiring from playing, Arthur became an umpire of note in club cricket, with few batsmen arguing with his decisions in case he arrested them for disorderly conduct!
