Spytty Park, situated to the south of the city centre, is the new home to Newport CC. Following the redevelopment of Rodney Parade in 1990, Newport CC acquired a new home near the International Sports Village and alongside the Football Association of Wales’ training complex.

The ground hosted Glamorgan 2nd  XI matches from 1997, starting with their Trophy contest with Gloucestershire. This was followed in 2014 by T20 matches and from 2016 by Second Eleven Championship matches. Wales Minor County have also staged fixtures at Spytty Park from June 1998 with the ground hosting their one-day contest with Wiltshire, followed the next year by their Championship contest with Herefordshire.

In July 2016 Spytty Park was allocated Glamorgan’s List A friendly against Pakistan A, before three years later, County Championship cricket returned to Newport after an absence of 54 years. With preparations in full swing ahead of the ICC 2019 World Cup matches at Sophia Gardens, Glamorgan met  Gloucestershire at Spytty Park in a four-day contest starting on 14 May.
