Samit Patel, the vastly experienced Nottinghamshire and England all-rounder, had a short spell on loan with Glamorgan during August and September 2019.
In the absence of the injured Kieran Bull, the off-spinner appeared in four Championship matches and besides his accurate spin bowling, he added depth to Glamorgan’s middle-order, posting two half-centuries as the Welsh county attempted to maintain their place in the promotion race. These hopes were dashed by a defeat to Worcestershire and a rain-affected draw with Durham where Samit was in bowling action and delivered the final ball of the 2019 season before the weather closed in.
The Leicester-born cricketer has appeared in 6 Tests and 36 One-Day Internationals for England, in addition to appearing in many T20 franchises around the world.
