Roman Walker, a tall young seam bowler, made his debut for Glamorgan during 2019 in white-ball cricket.

Born and raised in North Wales, Roman progressed from age-group teams into 2nd XI cricket as well as appearances for the England Under 19 team, including the 2017/18 ICC Youth World Cup. His first appearance for Glamorgan’s 1st XI came in their final List A match of 2019 away to Sussex. It proved to be quite a debut for the youngster as the Welsh county posted a record run-chase in the televised contest at Hove with Roman ending the contest by nonchalantly clipping a ball high over mid-wicket for six to clinch victory for his team.

He was also a member of the Glamorgan 2nd XI which won the Second Eleven T20 competition, defeating Nottinghamshire and Hampshire on Finals day at Arundel Castle. The youngster also bowled the final over in the final against Hampshire and held his nerve as the Welsh county won a dramatic contest by one run.

These performances led to Roman, and some of the other young cricketers, appearing in Glamorgan’s closing T20 games of the summer and he again enjoyed success against the South Coast club taking 3/39 in the victory over Hampshire at Sophia Gardens. Roman appeared again in T20 and List A games for Glamorgan in 2021 before signing for Leicestershire on a three-year deal from 2022.
