Ritson Rowntree was a talented all-rounder, who hailed from the north-east of England, who had a brief taste of Minor County cricket with Glamorgan whilst stationed in Cardiff as a corporal serving with the Welsh Regiment.
He twice played for Glamorgan in their Minor County Championship matches during late June 1899 against Surrey 2nd XI at Swansea and Monmouthshire at the Arms Park, but without any impact with either bat or ball.
He subsequently was posted to the Brecon Garrison before returning to Yorkshire after securing a post at St. Peter’s School, York. Riston continued to be a decent performer at club level, but did not play any more representative cricket.
He subsequently worked as a naval arcghitect and lived in Tyne and Wear for the rest of his life.
