Richie Thomas played for Glamorgan in a Sunday League match during 1969 as well as a Championship game five years later.

He had an outstanding record in club cricket for Panteg CC with the right-handed all-rounder producing many fine performances for the club, and first appearing for the Glamorgan 2nd XI during 1965. His work commitments prevented him for playing county cricket on a frequent basis, but in 1969 Richie made his Glamorgan debut in the Sunday League fixture against Derbyshire at Ebbw Vale in 1969, and returned the typically frugal figures of 1/13 in seven overs.

Richie was also called up in 1974 when Glamorgan were beset by injuries for their Championship match with Lancashire at Liverpool. Since retiring from playing Richie has become a well-respected umpire in South Wales, standing in some of Glamorgan’s 2nd  XI matches.
