Philip Flower, a member of Cadoxton CC, played once for Glamorganshire – in 1863 against Carmarthenshire on 23 and 24 June at Bryn-y-Mor Field, scoring 0 and 0*.
Born in the London area, he had attended Jesus College, Oxford but did not matriculate before moving to the Briton Ferry area where he became the owner of a very successful company manufacturing tinplate. He moved to live at Baglan Lodge in Briton Ferry and in 1880 wrote a book called “A History of the Trade in Tin.”
In addition to playing for Glamorganshire, Philip also played for the Welsh Wanderers in 1866, in addition to playing for Cadoxton against the United South of England at The Gnoll in Neath on 21, 22 and 23 May 1868. He scored 6 in his only innings.
In the 1891 Census, Philip and his family were listed as living at Montpellier Parade in Cheltenham. The following year, however, he died in Neath.
