Peter Hatzoglou joined Glamorgan in late May 2023 on a short-term deal for T20 cricket after Michael Neser was called into Australia’s training camp for the World Test Championship Final against India and the subsequent Ashes series.
Born and raised in Melbourne, the leg-spinner – with a Greek father plus a mother who hails from North Macedonia – first made a name for himself playing for Melbourne University as well as in League cricket in Cheshire before completing his studies in Finance and International Relations and securing a post as a data analyst with KPMG.
After some impressive performances in grade cricket, Peter was drafted into the Melbourne Renegades squad for the Big Bash in 2020/21, before making his List A debut for South Australia and, on the advice of Shane Warne who was coaching the London Spirit team in The Hundreds, to play again in club cricket in England. He duly quit his job with KPMG and hd stints with Sawston and Babrahim in the East Anglian Premier League, as well as for Buckhurst Hill in the Essex Premier League.
Peter has subsequently played for Perth Scorchers since 2021/22 in the Big Bash as well as having a stint with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League. In 2022 he played for The Oval Invincibles in The Hundred, whilst in 2022/23 he also played for Team Abu Dhabi in the T10 competition. He made his debut for Glamorgan against Somerset at Taunton.
