Peter David was a stalwart of Neath CC and played for the Gentlemen of Glamorgan in their friendly games between 1906 and 1912. The former pupil of Aldenham School was the son of William Henry David, a well-known solicitor in Neath.

Peter followed his father into the legal world and in 1910 purchased the solicitor’s practice of AT Williams (another Neath cricketer) and went into partnership with TAL Whittington, his good friend and colleague in the Neath team. During the Great War, Peter served with the Royal Field Artillery and rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

“Whittington and David” was dissolved in 1919 as the former encountered financial problems, besides spending more time on cricket matters as Glamorgan sought first-class status. Peter subsequently moved to work in the London area and died in Hammersmith during 1938.

His son William Henry Peter David emigrated to Halifax Nova Scotia to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, where he rose to the rank of Constable. He was also awarded the US Bronze Star Medal for having served during the Second World War whilst serving with the American Fifth Army.
