
Dr. Noshi Contractor played twice for Glamorgan during their wartime friendlies in 1943 and 1944.
A Parsee, he hailed from a family of doctors who lived in Karachi. He had arrrived in the UK during 1931 and initially attended London University besides playing cricket, and table tennis for the Indian Gymkhana club in Osterley. A tall and elegant batter, in 1937 he scored 155 for the Indian Gymkhana against Sir Julian Cahn’s XI at Nottingham.
In 1938 he secured a post at the Cardiff Royal Infirmary and spent the rest of his life in South Wales. There had been talk of him qualifying through residence for Glamorgan but he opted instead for a medical career. Nevertheless, he was a prolific run-scorer for Cardiff CC.
