Some of the feats of fast scoring have come when batters have faced non-regular bowlers in situations when a team needs to concede quick runs in order to set-up a declaration and a run-chase. These situations are denoted by the symbol (#) below.
The first instance of six sixes in an over came at Swansea in 1968 when Malcolm Nash, normally a left-arm swing bowler was bowling left-arm spin to Garry Sobers of Nottinghamshire. Remarkably, at the same ground in 1977 Lancashire’s Frank Hayes struck Nash for five sixes in an over when Nash was bowling in his normal style.
