
Mitchell Swepson, an Australian leg-spinner, made his first-class debut for Glamorgan during June 2023 following Michael Neser’s call-up into the Australian squad for the Ashes and an agreement to play red-ball cricket for the Welsh county in June and July 2023.
Born in Brisbane in 1993, the 29 year-old had not previously played in county cricket, despite having won 4 Test caps besides appearing in 3 One-Day Internationals and 8 International T20 matches. In addition to playing Shield cricket for Queensland, Mitchell has also played in the Big Bash for Brisbane Heat since 2015/16 and has been very close to selection in a number of Australian teams international cricket.
His Test debut came at Karachi on Australia’s tour to Pakistan in March 2022, whilst an ODI appearance followed in the one-day series starting at Lahore. Mitchell’s first appearance in international cricket had come at Edgbaston during June 2018 when he played against England in the standalone T20 match on the tour, followed by appearances against India and the West Indies in 2020 and 2021.
