Mir Hamza, the Pakistan international, joined Glamorgan as an overseas player for the beginning of the 2024 season and made his first-class debut for the Welsh county against MIddlesex at Lord’s. Mir subsequently played in a further five matches, claiming a dozen wickets at 35 runs apiece with his best return being 4/70 against Sussex at Cardiff.
At the time of his acquisition, the 31-year-old left-arm seam bowler had played in five Test matches for his country, with his best bowling figures being 4/32 in the Boxing Day Test against Australia in 2023. However, in August 2024 he returned to the international scene as he was recalled by Pakistan in place of Shaheen Shah Afridi for the second Test of their series with Bangladesh.
On signing for Glamorgan, he said: “I am thrilled to be joining Glamorgan for the County Championship this summer. It will be exciting to work with Grant [Bradburn, Head Coach] again after working with him with Pakistan, and I can’t wait to join up with the squad, get to training and help this great Club push for a positive start to the season. I have heard many great things about Cardiff from my teammates who played there last summer and look forward to meeting all of the supporters.”
