Leg-spinner Mason Crane, the former England international, joined Glamorgan from Hampshire on a season-long loan for the 2024 season., before agreeing a three-year deal with the Welsh county.
After playing in the three-day friendly against Cardiff UCCE, Mason made his first-class debut for the Welsh county against Derbyshire in the Vitality County Championship match at Sophia Gardens.
The 27-year-old is no stranger to Sophia Gardens, playing his second IT20 match for England at Cardiff against South Africa in 2017, and claiming the prize scalp of AB De Villiers as his first international wicket. He followed that up by making his Test debut against Australia in Sydney – his only Test appearance to date.
Mason has also represented many global T20 teams, including London Spirit in The Hundred and after a decent start to the 2024 season, with two five-fors in Championship cricket, Mason also played for the Welsh Fire in The Hundred in 2024. After some successful spells in both red-ball and white-ball cricket, as well as a pair of combative fifties in Championship cricket, Mason signed a three-year deal with Glamorgan.
2025 saw Mason suffer injuries to his side and intercostal muscles, but nevertheless he was able to play a role during the second half of the season in the successful push for promotion into Division One of the County Championship for 2026, with Mason completing what proved to be a match-winning spell of 6/19 against Lancashire at Old Trafford. He was also a member of the Welsh Fire squad, but did not feature in The Hundred of 2025.
