Mark Davies played once for Glamorgan in 1990, against Oxford University at The Parks before spending four years on the staff of Gloucestershire for whom the left-arm spinner made 44 first-class appearances as well as playing in 24 List A games between 1992 and 1995.

Mark’s career as a young cricketer had seen him progress from the Welsh Schools side and Ynysygerwn CC to a place in the Glamorgan Colts during the late 1980s as well as the MCC groundstaff at Lord’s. Despite some good returns for Glamorgan 2nd XI, his sole 1st XI appearance came against Oxford University during 1990.

After being released by Glamorgan during 1991, Mark joined Gloucestershire, and during his four summers in the West Country, the Welshman claimed 110 first-class wickets, with his best performance coming during May 1993 against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road. Mark returned figures of 5/84 and a career-best 5/57, but the spinner’s efforts could not prevent the home side from winning by five wickets..

After leaving the first-class game, Mark played for Wales in their Triple Crown matches, as well as for Wales Minor Counties. He also was a regular in the British Police team until 2013 having joined the force.
