Lloyd Williams

Educated at Christ College, Brecon and Brasenose College, Oxford, Lloyd Williams played once for Glamorgan, during1943 in their friendly against the Anti-Aircraft Command at Barry Island. However, he failed to score in his only innings. Nevertheless, he won selection a few weeks later in the Glamorgan Future side which met a Glamorgan XI at the Arms Park, but he never got a chance to bat as rain ended the contest after the scratch county side had made 209 in their 40 overs.

Lloyd also played table tennis for Oxford University as well as squash for Somerset. He played frequently for Glamorgan’s 2nd XI between 1949 and 1953 when teaching in Llanelli. He then secured a post at Millfield school in Street and duly appeared for Somerset during their Festival week at Weston-super-Mare in 1955, playing against Surrey, Hampshire and Glamorgan. The right-handed batter had a good record with Bath CC and the Somerset Stragglers, and was a Housemaster at Millfield for several years.
