Joseph Wallis played once for Glamorganshire in 1861, against Carmarthenshire at Llanelly House in 1861.

An architect by profession, he scored 2 and 4, and never appeared again for the county. Nevertheless, he had enjoyed a reasonable career as a batter, making 37 for the South Wales CC against Clifton in 1859 as well as 31 against the MCC.at Lord’s in 1860, besides scoring 38 for Monmouthshire against Breconshire in 1868 – a game which proved to be his last major match.

His first game of note had come in 1858 when he played in the Newport and District XXII which met the All-England Eleven XI. He played against them in 1860 as well, besides going on the South Wales Cricket Club’s London tours in 1860 and 1862, as well as playing for the Club against Clifton and Lansdown during 1861.

He was also a member of the West Gloucestershire club and played for them against a Monmouth and District XI in 1866.
