John Davies played once for Glamorgan in 1952 . Born and raised in Pontypridd, John was a prolific run scorer in club cricket, especially for Pontypridd, Cowbridge and St. Fagans. He was also a regular in the Glamorgan 2nd  XI during the 1950`s, and during 1952 he made his one, and only first-class appearance for the county, against Worcestershire at the Arms Park.

Had he not opted to go into the world of finance, John would have secured a place on the Glamorgan staff. He enjoyed a highly successful career with the Midland Bank, rising to the position of Manager, and worked in several branches in South Wales and the Marches, including the Pontypridd branch. At the time of his death, John was President of Cowbridge Cricket Club.
