James Weighell joined Glamorgan in 2021 having previously played for Durham, besides having a short spell on loan with Leicestershire.

The Middlesbrough-born all-rounder made his first-class debut for Durham against Middlesex in 2015 having impressed in Minor County cricket for Northumberland and the Durham Academy. Although not a regular in the Durham line-up, he made 84 against Kent at Chester-le-Street in 2018, besides taking 7/32 at the same ground against Leicestershire. James also made his debut in white-ball cricket for Durham in 2017, claiming 5/57 against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

He played on loan with Leicestershire in 2020 before being released by Durham and then having a successful trial with Glamorgan. The all-rounder duly won a place in their white-ball team and, to his delight, was a member of the Welsh county’s side which defeated Durham at Trent Bridge in the final of the Royal London Cup.

However, James failed to secure a regular place in either Glamorgan’s red-ball or white-ball team during 2022 and was released form the county’s staff at the end of the season.
