Howard Morgan played twice for Glamorgan during 1958, besides enjoying a fine career in club cricket and becoming a leading administrator in junior cricket.
Born and educated in Maesteg, he joined Glamorgan’s junior staff during the mid-1950s after showing rich promise as a right-handed batsman and off-spinner with Maesteg Celtic CC. With Jim McConnon and Don Shepherd as Glamorgan`s first choice off-spinners, Howard only appeared in a couple of Championship matches – each during June 1958.
He left Glamorgan`s staff at the end of the season and trained as a schoolmaster, before teaching Geography and PE in various schools in the Cardiff area. He also acted as a selector for the Welsh Schools Under-19 team from 1960 until 1985, besides overseeing the Cardiff Schools Cricket League.
Howard also played for a number of clubs in the South Wales Cricket Association, including Neath CC and Briton Ferry Town CC, before moving to the Cardiff area and playing with distinction for both St. Fagans CC and Cowbridge CC.
