Henry James appeared once for Glamorganshire, in 1872, when he played against Capt. Pearson’s XI at Cardiff Arms Park on 24 and 25 June. The carpenter made 27 and 87 in what proved to be his sole appearance for the Welsh county.
The son of Robert Swan James, a veterinary surgeon, was based in the Caerphilly area and played for Cardiff CC as well as the Bute Household XI. He subsequently moved to the Midlands and played for Staffordshire between 1885 and 1890.
