George Ward played once for Glamorganshire at the Arms Park in 1873, whilst training as a brewer in Cardiff. Batting at number nine, he made 0 and 0* as Breconshire were defeated by four wickets.

Born in High Wycombe and educated at Marlborough, George subsequently moved back to Buckinghamshire and lived at New Court in Great Marlow. He remained an enthusiastic cricketer with Marlow CC beisdes being a member of the South Wales CC, the MCC and Incogniti. He played in the South Wales Cricket Club’s trial match at Cardiff in 1880, whilst in 1884 he played for the MCC against Leicestershire as well as Wiltshire.

He served as Secretary of Buckinghamshire CCC from 1891 until 1903. In addition to his business as a brewer, he served as a JP and was Chair of the Marlow Gas Company.
