George Reynolds, a Yorkshire-born engine fitter, played for Merthyr CC and, after some promising performances, was invited to play for the Colts XXII against Glamorganshire at Neath in May 1869. Batting at number three he scored 7 and 41.

As a result of his decent performance with the bat, he was chosen the following month by the county’s selectors to play against Breconshire at Brecon. Batting again at number three he made 4 and 11. In July he re-appeared in the match with Radnorshire at Neath. He made 8 and 6 in what proved to be his last major match.
