
Fazal Haque Farooqi will become the first Afghani cricketer to play for Glamorgan having joined the Welsh county to appear in the Vitality Blast competition in 2026.
The left-arm fast bowler and right-handed batter played for Nottinghamshire during 2024, as well as appearing for the Manchester Originals in The Hundred in 2024. The 25 year-old made his IT20 debut in March 2021 against Zimbabwe before making his One-Day International debut the following January.
At the time of his signing by Glamorgan in March 2026, Farooqi had appeared in 42 One-Day Internationals for Afghanistan as well as in 43 IT20s. He also has considerable experience of appearing for other franchises in short-format cricket, including the Sydney Thunder in 2022/23, the Rangpur Riders in 2023/24, the Rajasthan Royals in 2025 as well as the St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2025.
Farooqi also featured in Afghanistan’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024.
