In July 1862 a player listed as “E W Hill, Esq.” batted at number 11 for the South Wales Cricket Club in their match against the MCC at Lord’s. He scored 1 and 0 and was a late substitute for George Worthington who had been listed overnight as playing in the game.
His identity is not known, and he may have been a member of the MCC groundstaff who filled in. It is possible that it was Edward Stock Hill who played.
