Douglas Dickinson of Glanrhondda, Brecon played for the South Wales Cricket Club in their match with Purton CC in June 1861, scoring 3 and 0. It was his only appearance, but his son Francis played on a regular basis for the Club between 1877 and 1882.

Douglas had been appointed as adjutant to the Brecon Regiment of Militia in 1846 and, by the time of his premature death in 1865 he had risen to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
