Daren Foster was a fast-medium bowler with a whippy bowling action and modest pretentions as a batsman, who spent four years on Somerset’s staff before playing for Glamorgan during 1991 and 1992.
A graduate of the Haringey Cricket College, Daren had joined Somerset in 1986 and later that summer made his first-class debut against Sussex at Taunton. He subsequently claimed 49 first-class wickets in 28 appearances for the West Country side before being released at the end of the 1989 season.
Having played 2nd XI cricket for Surrey and Derbyshire during 1990, Daren joined Glamorgan for 1991 and made his debut for the Welsh county against Oxford University at The Parks. He then marked his Championship debut for his new employers by taking 6/84 against his former employers at Taunton. However, as at Somerset, Daren was not a regular in either three-day or limited overs games and, in what proved to be his final Championship game during 1992, the fast bowler claimed 5/87 against Durham at Hartlepool.
After leaving Glamorgan played for Essex 2nd XI before spending two summers in the Minor County Championship with Berkshire.
