Dale Steyn, the vastly experienced South African pace bowler, shared duties with Shaun Tait as an overseas player for Glamorgan during their T20 campaign in 2016.
Dale claimed 11 wickets at just ten runs apiece and with a miserly economy rate he added an extra cutting edge to Glamorgan’s attack. His best performance came in the group game at Cardiff against the Kent Spitfires where he claimed a brace of wickets in a fiery new ball spell which helped his employers secure an important victory besides successfully maintaining their quest of a quarter-final place in the competition. Sadly, their dreams of a place at Final Day were then dashed a few weeks later at their Cardiff headquarters by the Yorkshire Vikings and David Willey in particular, as they succumbed to a heavy defeat.
During his illustrious career, Dale has played in T20 cricket for many franchises around the world, besides playing county cricket for Essex, Warwickshire and Hampshire, in addition to playing in 93 Tests, 123 One-Day Internationals and 47 International T20’s for South Africa.
