Colthurst Palairet played once for Glamorganshire, with his sole appearance coming in 1861 as the former pupil of Sherborne School featured in the contest with Carmarthenshire at Llanelly House on 5 and 6 August. He opened the batting and scored 37 and 20.
He was the son of John Gwalter Palairet, a Barrister and JP who lived at Bertholey House, near Llantrisant Fawr in Monmouthshire prior to emigrating to Canterbury in New Zealand in the early 1860s
Colthurst attended Sherborne School with his brothers Rowland and Gwalter before going to Exeter College. However, he did not take a degree as, together with his brothers, he also emigrated to New Zealand where he became a Land Agent. He maintained his sporting interests by being an active member of the New Brighton Beach Jockey Club and the Canterbury Rowing Club.
