Cliff Byfield was a clerk at a colliery in Pontypridd and during July 1945 he played on his home turf at Ynysangharad Park for Glamorgan in their one-day friendly against the National Fire Service. He was dismissed without scoring in what proved to be his sole innings for the Welsh county.
