Charles Westwood played for Glamorganshire against Breconshire in their home and away matches during 1868, with the Bristol-born insurance agent making 24* and 88 at Brecon before making 19 and 6 at Neath. His brother John also played that year for the Gentlemen of Swansea against the Australian Aborigines at Bryn-y-mor Field.
Charles, who played for Cadoxton and Swansea, also appeared for the Gentlemen of South Wales against the Players at Bryn-y-Mor Field in 1868 as well as at Neath during 1869. He had also appeared for the XXII of Neath and District against the United South of England team at Neath in 1868.
Sadly, Charles’ life took a turn for the worse after he had been widowed and in the 1901 Census was listed as a pauper in the Swansea Workhouse.
