Charles Ferguson played once for Glamorganshire – on 18 and 19 July 1873 against Breconshire at Cardiff Arms Park. Batting at number six, Charles made 8 in his only innings and also took a wicket as his team won the friendly contest by four wickets.
At the time, Charles Ferguson was playing for Cardiff CC. The 1871 Census records him as being born in Australia. He was baptized though in Ayrshire so it seems likely that the enumerator misheard what was said in gathering the data when Charles was working as an accountant at the Bute Docks. In 1891 he is recorded as being a bank clerk in Greenock having returned presumably to his native Scotland.
