Dr. Cecil Pearson, an expert in tropical medicine and later the Medical Director for Porthcawl, played once for Glamorgan in 1922.
In contrast to his illustrious medical career, the bespectacled batsman and off-spin bowler enjoyed a modest first-class career, scoring 9 and 0 in his one and only Championship appearance against Nottinghamshire at the Arms Park.
Born on the Isle of Dogs in 1888, Cecil had worked initially in East Africa before spending a short period as Assistant House Surgeon at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He then spent the rest of his working life in South Wales, in practices in Pencoed and Porthcawl, where he played with some success for the town’s cricket club.
