Brad Wheal, a right-arm fast-medium bowler and batter, joined Glamorgan on loan from Hampshire during April 2024 for the Vitality County Championship match against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road. His acquisition followed a series of injuries to other bowlers – Timm van der Gugten (calf), Jamie McIlroy (shoulder) and Harry Podmore (thumb).
The 27 year-old made his first-class debut for Hampshire in 2015, and at the start of the 2024 season, he had claimed 109 first-class wickets. Brad also appeared in The Hundred for London Spirit during 2021 and 2022, as well as the Tent Rockets in 2023. Brad also had loan spells with Gloucestershire and Warwickshire in 2022.
Born and raised in South Africa, Brad has a Scottish mother and is therefore qualified to play for Scotland. At the time of his joining Glamorgan, Brad has appeared in 14 One-Day Internationals and 17 International T20s for Scotland. Persistent injuries led to Brad retiring from playing at the end of the 2026 season.
