The right-handed batsman emerged from Wales age-group squads onto the Glamorgan staff in 2005, He also represented England U19s between 2005 and 2007, before making his first-class debut in 2006.Ben subsequently secured a place in Glamorgan’s middle-order and posted a maiden Championship hundred against Leicestershire at Grace Road in 2007. In 2011 Ben made 101 against Middlesex at Lord’s, and won his county cap. The award had also been based on the fact that he had become an integral member of the county’s one-day and Twenty20 line-up with his swift ground fielding as well as his batting skills helping to secure his place in the line-up.

In 2013 he played a crucial innings in Glamorgan’s Yorkshire Bank40 semi-final against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl, with the right-handed batsman sharing what proved to be a match-winning partnership with Jim Allenby, as Glamorgan clinched a place in the Lord’s final. 2014 also saw Ben score a brisk century against Gloucestershire in the County Championship match at Bristol. However, Ben lost his place in the Welsh county’s line-up during 2014 and 2015, and only appeared in in a handful of Championship and Twenty20 matches before announcing his retirement from the game.
