Arthur Jenkins was a talented top-order batsman who, had it not been for the Second World War, would have probably played Championship cricket.

Educated at Pontypridd Grammar School and Jesus College, Oxford, he represented the University at football in 1942/43 without winning a Blue and played in the Varsity Match at Lord’s during 1943 against Cambridge University.

He made his Glamorgan debut against the Army at Cardiff Arms Park in 1943 and played regularly in the wartime fixtures, including twice with his elder brother Tom, before moving to the Wiltshire area and subsequently playing for them in Minor County cricket during 1946 and 1947.
