Andy Gorvin signed a one-year deal with Glamorgan for 2022 having played in four List A matches during 2021 besides playing a key role as a substitute fielder in the Royal London Cup Final at Trent Bridge.
Born in Winchester during May 1997, Andy attended Portsmouth HS before also studying at Cardiff Met University and being a member of their successful UCCE team. The right-handed batter and seam bowler has also played age-group and 2nd XI cricket for Hampshire, besides playing in the Southern Premier League for the Hampshire Academy as well as Havant CC. Since based in South Wales, Andy has also played for, and captained, St. Fagans CC as well as the Wales National County side.
In May 2022 Andy made his first-class debut for Glamorgan as he played against Leicestershire at Sophia Gardens, and in 2023 he made further appearances in both red- and white-ball cricket. 2024 was a breakthrough summer for the all-rounder and he completed a maiden five-wicket haul in the Championship victory over Sussex at Sophia Gardens, before delivering some frugal spells during the 50-overs competition, including another five-wicket haul against the Notts Outlaws at Neath.
Together with Jamie McIlroy, Andy also steered Glamorgan to a nail-biting one-wicket success at The Gnoll against the Sussex Sharks. His contributions with bat and ball made him an important member of the Glamorgan side which won the Metro Bank One-Day Cup competition during 2024.
2025 saw Andy complete his maiden Championship fifty besides taking another five-for, to go with his career-best figures of 5/40 in 2024 against Sussex, with his nagging bowling being also to the fore again in the white-ball games.
