Andrew Roseberry was on Glamorgan`s staff during the mid-1990`s, eager to follow his older brother Michael, the Durham and Middlesex batsman, into the first-class game.
The right-handed opening batsman had previously been on Leicestershire`s books, having made his debut for their 2nd XI as a seventeen-year old in 1988. After trials with Middlesex and Derbyshire, Andrew made his first-class debut for Leicestershire in 1992, but left the East Midlands county following year and joined Glamorgan in the hope of securing more first team cricket.
However, the former pupil of Durham School made just six first-class appearances for the Welsh county during 1994, and posted a solitary fifty against county opposition, with 65 in the end of season Championship match against Hampshire.
Despite still being a heavy scorer in 2nd XI cricket, Andrew was released from the Glamorgan staff at the end of the 1995 season having not featured that summer in the county’s line-up and returned to Northern England where he subsequently played for Northumberland and the Durham Cricket Board, besides appearing in the North east Premier League for Philadelphia CC.
