Ali Bukhari, a left-arm fast bowler, played for Glamorgan in 2001 in the three-day friendly at Sophia Gardens against Cardiff UCCE – a match which was not classed as being first-class.

Born in the Punjab, he took 179 wickets in 55 first-class appearances in domestic cricket in Pakistan between 1992/93 and 1998/99, playing for Bahawalpur, Railways, Lahore, United Bank, Islamabad and Agriculture Development Bank before moving to the UK and starting a highly successful career in club cricket in Wales.

His initial success for Burton CC in Pembrokeshire led to selection for Wales Minor Counties in 1999, followed by appearances for Glamorgan 2nd XI in 2000 and 2001. His slingy left-arm action made him a handful for club cricketers to face and in 2002 he signed for Derbyshire. He subsequently played for Middlesex in 2005 and 2006 before returning to league cricket in South Wales.

His most recent match of note was playing for Wales against the MCC at Lord’s in 2016.
