Peter Addie, a young civil engineer and surveyor, played once for the South Wales CC in late June 1884 in the trial match against the Club’s Next XVIII at Swansea. He scored 4 and 14, besides taking a couple of catches but did not feature again.
Born in Lancashire, Peter worked initially for the Swansea Corporation in the early 1880s before moving to work in his native county as well as Birmingham, before securing a post in 1898 as Chief Valuer for the City of Bristol. He remained in the West Country for the rest of his life and, as a keen golfer, he helped to form Portishead Golf Club in 1907.
Peter was a useful batter in club cricket, playing for Swansea, Fleetwood and Preston.
