Frederick Milford, a mineral agent and metal broker, played twice for Glamorganshire – each time against Breconshire at Cardiff Arms Park. The first came during July 1873 when he scored 8 and 46, before the following year, again in July, he scored 11 and 6 .
Born in Truro and educated at the Camborne School of Mines, Frederick lived in Swansea whilst based in South Wales. Besides playing for Cadoxton CC and the Welsh Etceteras, Charles became a member of the South Wales CC and went on their London tour in 1874. It was probably through these contacts within the South Wales CC that led to Frederick being drafted into the Breconshire team of 1874 which met Herefordshire, despite the fact that he had no residential or business link with the county.
After getting married, the Cornishman moved with his family to Buckinghamshire around 1877 with Frederick continuing his cricketing career by playing for Great Marlow CC and the MCC. He remained in the Home Counties as his business as a metal broker took off. After retiring, Frederick returned for a while to live in South Cornwall before moving to reside in the Taunton area.
